Roads | 5 Year Plan & Hearing

Posted 1/14/26 · Engineer's Office & Secondary Roads

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at 6:00 pm on January 20th in the boardroom at the Jasper County Courthouse. This meeting is an opportunity for the public to share comments on the proposed FY2027 County Five-Year Program (CFYP). The CFYP lists construction projects planned for fiscal year 2027 and includes projects for the following four years: 2028, 2029, 2030, and 2031.

The CFYP is required every year by Iowa law and covers construction projects on all types of county road segments. It also identifies where funding will come from and how much is expected for each project.

5 Year Plan details HERE

Construction projects may include work on roads, bridges, or culverts that:

  1. Expand the current system
  2. Create something that is significantly different from what is already there.
  3. Improve or change existing structures in a way that greatly increases their value, usefulness, or lifespan.

Maintenance activities such as clearing snow and ice, the blading, shaping, and resurfacing of granular surfaced roads, in-kind replacement of existing bridges or culverts, repairs to roads, bridges, and/or culvert pipes, etc., are NOT considered construction projects and therefore are NOT included nor considered in the CFYP.

The public hearing is your opportunity to ask questions or share your thoughts about the CFYP construction projects. Please note that questions about maintenance handled by the Secondary Roads Department will not be addressed at this meeting.

If you have any questions or comments about this plan, submit them to the Board of Supervisors by noon on Tuesday, January 20th,
Brandon Talsma, btalsma@jasperia.org
Thad Nearmyer, tnearmyer@jasperia.org
Doug Cupples, dcupples@jasperia.org

Also, please note, this meeting does not cover general gravel road maintenance, regrades or rock. We will plan community meetings to discuss our Secondary Roads soon.
