FREE TAX PROGRAM

The VITA or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is excited to announce the start of another free tax season for those who qualify!

LOCATION: DMACC BUILDING IN NEWTON

Those who qualify:

• Earn under $64,000 a year
• Elderly or disabled
• Veterans
• NO rental income or farm tax loss or gain

Quick look:

• By appointment only, call the tax hotline: 641-787-7241
• Tax Prep Appointments in March and April are Tuesday and Wednesdays only with Thursday March 7 5pm-7pm, Thursday March 21st 5pm-7pm and Saturday March 16th 11am-1pm. 

Our Volunteers have been doing takes in Jasper County for over 20 years.

There is something for everyone from 3 years old through Middle School. Be sure to register before March 11, as there will be a Coaches Meeting on March 21st, and practices will start the week of April 1! Games will be played on the fields behind the YMCA, and the first games start on April 13th.

MSSP Self Defense | Session 1 starts today!

The next installment of our Middle School Sports Program is a brand-new one. For the first time, we are offering Self Defense as a FREE After after-school program for our middle schoolers at BMS.

This class will be taught by David Robbins, our expert Jiu-Jitsu instructor, and will incorporate everything from basic techniques and coordination to bullying prevention, situational awareness, and conflict resolution.

As with all of our MSSP programs, this is FREE for any/all to attend, thanks to our friends at Monsignor McCann Community Fund. You only need to register for the program to be able to participate.

Starting NEXT week | Newton YMCA's Spring Break Camp

Introducing the Newton YMCA's Spring Break Camp!

This camp will be located at Thomas Jefferson Elementary, and is open to any kids from grades K-6. Open from 6 AM to 6 PM during Spring Break weekdays (3/11-3/15), your kids will have a whole bunch of fun opportunities! Field trips, sports, arts & crafts to take home and more!!

Free Bison Story Time

Enjoy learning about bison through this free educational story time event presented by Denise Bean, Youth Services Librarian for the Iowa Library for the Blind and Print Disabled. All ages are welcome to participate in this program.

All attendees will create hands-on crafts and participate in engaging activities, including working with tactile coloring pages. Attendees will learn about bison, their habitat, while enjoying the smells of the prairie. For an added bonus, participants will receive a tactile bison bookmark with their very own name in braille. Easter Egg Hunt | Accura HealthCare of Newton

Residents and staff of Accura HealthCare of Newton are excited to host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30 at 11 AM. Bring your family and friends for an afternoon of fun finding colorful eggs, prizes, and surprises!

The hunt will take place outdoors, weather permitting.
