Iowa DOT Resurfacing Project | IA-14 South | Updated

Posted 3/28/24 · Engineer's Office & Secondary Roads

Update | Wednesday, March 27

The Iowa DOT will be closing a portion of IA 14 starting April 8 to all traffic. The initial closure will be from the city limits on the North side of Monroe to S 60th Ave W. They hope to keep the F-62 intersection passable during this phase of construction. All other intersections with IA 14 will be closed. They anticipate the closure of this portion of the highway to last about 3 months. Once that work is completed, they will move on to the rest of the project from S 60th Ave W to Newton. We will post updates as we receive them from the DOT.

The Iowa DOT is planning a resurfacing project on IA-14 S in the coming months.  This work will stretch from the city limits on the North side of Monroe to the city limits on the South side of Newton.  As this is a state project on a state highway, we do not have as much information as we would on one of our own county projects.  Our understanding at this time is that they do not have a set date for the road closure yet, but it could be as soon as late March or early April.  It has been communicated to us that they will be closing the road to all traffic from the Monroe City Limits to S 60th Ave W for the first stage of the project.  They are hoping to keep the intersections of Hwy F-62 W open to allow traffic to cross over there, but all other intersections will be closed.  We will let you know as we get more information from the DOT.  You can also check www.511ia.org for construction and detour information on this and all DOT projects.
